JEE Main is held in two sessions and the better of the two scores counts, which makes the first session a genuinely free attempt. It is scored as a percentile rather than as marks, and the syllabus is the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 course in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. A 75% board aggregate (or top-20-percentile in your board) is separately required for NIT and IIT admission — a student who ignores boards can score well and still lose the seat.
76 chapters in total — 28 in Physics, 21 in Chemistry, 27 in Mathematics.
The weight column is CapCompass's own planning weight — how much study time the app reserves for that chapter — not an official JEE weightage, which the NTA does not publish.
