Global Understanding, what it tests
- the question sits at the surface of the extract, answered directly from a line or two
- shows up as fill in the blank, complete the statement, or true or false
- answer in the extract's own words, then trim to fit the blank, don't paraphrase
- read the line just before and after the quoted phrase, the answer usually sits there

- one detail, one place in the text
- answered in a phrase or one sentence
- asked as fill in the blank or true/false
Complex Factual & Inference
- two or more details, joined by you
- answered in your own words, a full sentence or more
- asked as a contrast table, a why question, or a jumbled sort
