Inferences in one look
not what the passage hints at: what it leaves you no way out of
What an inference question is really asking
the answer is not stated, but it must follow from what is stated, with nothing added from your own knowledge
the test word is must, not might: a choice that could be true while the passage stays true is wrong
you get a passage of 25 to 150 words that belongs to this question alone, so every sentence in it is there for a reason
Reading and Writing runs 54 questions in 64 minutes, about 71 seconds each, in two modules of 27 in 32 minutes
four choices, no penalty for a wrong answer, so cut to two and pick, a blank buys you nothing
pacing for this chapter: allow 75 to 85 seconds, slightly over the average, and take it from the vocabulary questions
Two shapes, one skill. Which one is in front of you
the passage ends in a blank and the stem says most logically completes — Logical completion: finish the sentence yourself before reading down
the stem asks what is most strongly supported by the text — Supported statement: test each choice against the lines, one at a time

These notes are not a standalone PDF. CapCompass plans SAT Reading and Writing chapter by chapter against your real exam dates and free hours, and when the plan reaches Inferences the sheet opens inside the study block itself — at the page covering the sub-topic that block is on, with the timer still running. Revision arrives at the moment the plan says revise, instead of having to be gone looking for.
